NNPC to Acquire Equity in Six Private Refineries.

In line with the federal government policy, which stipulates the mandatory participation of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in any privately owned refinery that exceeds 50,000 barrels per day capacity, the corporation has announced that it is currently considering equity participation in a number of private refineries in the country.

This directive assists NNPC in upholding its statutory role of safeguarding national energy security.

COVID-19: NCDC Records 28 Deaths, 203 Additional Infection.

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, on Monday, via a tweet on its official twitter handle confirmed 203 additional Covid-19 infections, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 166,518.

Benue state is currently leading the charts, with 178 new cases, followed by Lagos state with 10, Ondo with 6, the FCT with 4, Kaduna with 4 and Plateau with 1 confirmed case.

Buhari Appoints Emem Omokaro as DG National Senior Citizen Centre.

The statement issued by the senior special assistant to the president on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, last night, confirmed that the president has approved the take off of the national senior Citizens Centre with Dr, Emem Omokaro as the Director-General. The president also approved the constitution of its 12- member board with immediate effect.  

This development is in line with Section 16 (2) (d) of the Nigerian 1999 Constitution as amended which mandates the state to provide adequate social services and improve the quality of life of the elderly.

Ahmed Mustapha Habib Approved as New DG of NEMA.

A statement put out by the presidency on Monday evening, confirmed that the president Muhammad Buhari has approved the appointment of Ahmed Mustapha Habib as the new Director – General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

This appointment will last for four years.

NIMC Enrolls 56m Into National Database.

Yesterday, the Director- General, National Identity management Commission (NIMC) Aliyu Aziz, said 56 million Nigerians have been enrolled so far by the Agency. Dr Isa Patami in his goodwill message at the unveiling of a national Policy on virtual Engagement, virtual inauguration of three digital economy centres and one emergency Communication Centre (ECC) by the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, said that the NIMC enrollment increases by 2 million monthly
